Australia secured a 45-run victory via the DLS method in the third one-day international against South Africa after rain prematurely halted the contest. Carey and Marsh anchored the innings to propel Australia to a formidable total of 322-9.

The Australian innings saw early intent when Marsh and Head countered the opening bowling attack, hitting pull shots off Williams for boundaries after surviving a testing maiden over from Coetzee.

South Africa's response in the chase reached 145-4 before inclement weather brought a permanent halt to proceedings. The hosts fell 45 runs short of the required par score on the DLS charts.

With this hard-fought victory in the final fixture, Australia successfully closed out the contest, though South Africa claimed the one-day series 2-1 overall.

Attention now turns away from limited-overs action as teams prepare for the upcoming three-match Test series.
