My name has to be up there in selectors' minds: Shams Mulani
After winning player of the series against Australia A, Mumbai left-arm spinner Shams Mulani expresses his ambitions for an India call-up.

Competition for places in the India side among left-arm spinners has reached unprecedented levels. Established seniors like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav are currently complemented by rising Test star Manav Suthar, alongside contenders such as Harsh Dubey, Sai Kishore, and Nishant Sindhu.
Amidst this intense rivalry, Mumbai all-rounder Shams Mulani continues his determined quest to catch the selectors' attention. His first-class numbers are exceptional, boasting 279 wickets across 61 matches alongside 2,632 runs at an average of 31.71 in the lower order.
Mulani has consistently spearheaded the Mumbai bowling attack across multiple domestic seasons. His recent form includes a standout performance during the unofficial two-Test series against Australia A, where he earned the player of the series award with a seven-wicket match haul in the opening fixture.
Reflecting on his ambitions, the 29-year-old emphasized his commitment to continuous performance. Yes, there is going to be competition with so much talent, Mulani noted while acknowledging that the selection process remains beyond his direct control.
Preparation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru under coaches Sunil Joshi and Rishikesh Kanitakar proved instrumental in understanding opposition batting styles. His strategic variety and tactical discipline allowed him to build consistent pressure on the visiting batters.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, Mulani aims to maintain high standards alongside Mumbai teammates Tushar Deshpande and Tanush Kotian. Whenever selection discussions take place, he intends for his consistent contributions to keep his name right at the forefront.
