Bangladesh can now dominate in Test cricket: Hasan Mahmud
Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud believes Bangladesh's upward trajectory makes a World Test Championship final appearance a realistic dream after historic wins.

Fast-rising pace bowler Hasan Mahmud believes Bangladesh's upward trajectory has made a place in the World Test Championship final a realistic dream for his team. Placed fourth in the standings after a shock nine-wicket victory over Australia in Darwin in August, the side has highlighted major strides away from their long-standing status as Test underachievers.
Reflecting on the changing dynamics, the 26-year-old right-arm bowler noted that the momentum is firmly shifting toward them. Having played a vital role with figures of 6-55 in Darwin, he emphasized that the atmosphere is ripe for the team to assert control.
Describing the Darwin triumph as a potential springboard, the pacer pointed out that Bangladesh have claimed six of their 13 Tests over the past two years. With six matches remaining in the current cycle—including home series against the West Indies and England alongside a tour of South Africa—ambitions are running high.
If we win four matches at home, why shouldn't we play in the World Test Championship final? That's the dream for Bangladesh now, Hasan said during an interview in Dhaka.
Having enjoyed a successful county stint with Kent this year, the bowler nicknamed Mini-McGrath feels perceptions surrounding the nation's fast-bowling resources are finally shifting. He noted that opponents now recognize the country can produce world-class quicks.
His aggressive approach was evident during the Australia series, where he focused on building pressure through tight lines and short balls. Although Bangladesh missed out on a series sweep after Australia claimed the second Test in Mackay by an innings and 51 runs, the pacer remains confident in the team's trajectory.
Look at how much we've improved in Test cricket, he added, stressing that continued fitness among fast bowlers and batting form will elevate the squad to even greater heights.
