A Karachi teenager named Adam Gilchrist has drawn widespread attention after producing a brilliant century in Pakistan's Under-17 school cricket tournament.

The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter smashed 117 runs off 108 deliveries to anchor the innings for Kamran Public School.

His commanding knock powered his school side to a comprehensive 172-run victory in the match.

The young cricketer was named after the legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batter by his cricket-loving father.

However, despite bearing the name of the Australian icon, the teenager models his game on Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara and hopes to follow in his footsteps.
