Chinmay Sutar etched his name into the record books by becoming just the second batter in Ranji Trophy history to record an individual score of 400. The right-hander, who switched from Mumbai to Mizoram earlier this year, reached the monumental figure off 517 balls in an innings studded with 46 fours and 7 sixes.

Sutar also surpassed Prithvi Shaw to register the second-highest individual score in the history of the tournament. The record for the highest individual score remains held by B. B. Nimbalkar, who scored 443 for Maharashtra against Kathiawar.

Elsewhere in the Ranji Trophy second round, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni slammed a double century against Gujarat. Badoni brought up his 217 before being dismissed by Jaymeet Patel, capping off a dominant display where Delhi declared their innings at 648/6.

Mohammed Siraj made an immediate impact for his side on the second day by getting a wicket off his first ball with a pitch-perfect yorker. Meanwhile, India Test captain Shubman Gill experienced a disappointing return, lasting only five balls and scoring just 1 against Chhattisgarh.

Punjab's Salil Arora also notched up a century as his team neared the 400-run mark in Mullanpur. In other fixtures, Bengal fought back against Services after being bundled out for 184, reducing their opponents to 113/9 with Shahbaz Ahmed claiming four wickets.
