Bangladesh suffered a dramatic batting collapse on the second day of the first Test against West Indies, losing seven wickets for just 59 runs in the morning session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

Resuming the overnight score, Shadman Islam converted his unbeaten 99 into his third Test century before falling for 105 off 234 balls, trapped lbw by Joshua Bishop. Tawhid Hridoy, who had resumed his innings on 42 after being retired hurt with a hamstring pull on the opening day, was bowled by Bishop soon after.

Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz attempted to steady the innings with a 32-run stand for the sixth wicket. Miraz contributed 15 runs before Jomel Warrican breached his defense with a straight delivery.

Warrican capitalized on the breakthrough to dismantle the lower order alongside Bishop and Shamar Joseph. Nayeem Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Taijul Islam, and Shoriful Islam managed a combined total of only 12 runs.

Litton Das remained unbeaten on 34 off 88 balls as the hosts were bowled out for 272 at lunch in their first innings. Jomel Warrican finished with impressive figures for a five-wicket haul, his fourth in Test cricket, while Joshua Bishop and Shamar Joseph claimed two wickets apiece.
