Bangladesh Women Name Squad for Historic Australia ODI Tour
Nigar Sultana Joty will lead a 16-member Bangladesh squad for their upcoming historic three-match ODI series against Australia in Brisbane.

Bangladesh have announced a 16-member squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, with regular captain Nigar Sultana Joty set to lead the team. Spinner Nahida Akter has been named vice-captain for this crucial tour.
The selection remains largely unchanged from the side that featured in the Women's Asia Cup and the Asian Games in Japan earlier this month. Pacer Marufa Akter will spearhead the bowling attack, while 17-year-old Habiba Islam Pinky provides a fresh pace option.
Experienced batter Farzana Haque returns to the ODI setup, and Murshida Khatun has been recalled after last featuring for Bangladesh in January 2025. Young all-rounder Disha Biswas has also earned a place following her stint with the Emerging side.
Meanwhile, top-order batter Juairiya Ferdous, experienced spinner Fahima Khatun, and all-rounder Shorna Akter have been left out from the Asian Games squad. The upcoming matches form a vital part of the ICC Women's Championship, where Bangladesh currently sit eighth in the standings.
The tour marks Bangladesh women's first-ever ODI trip to Australia, presenting a demanding test in foreign conditions. All three fixtures are scheduled to take place at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, with the opening two matches on 9 and 11 October, followed by the final clash on 14 October.
