Salahuddin and Ashraful reunite at Fortune in D3 draft

Former Bangladesh national team senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin has been selected as Fortune’s head coach for the upcoming D3 competition. The inaugural team management draft held in Mirpur yesterday also paired him with current national team batting coach Mohammad Ashraful, who joins as an assistant alongside Abdul Karim Juel.

Both Salahuddin and Ashraful bring previous experience of working together within the Tigers' setup. The Bangladesh Cricket Board launched the D3 competition on Sunday to spark renewed interest in domestic cricket, unveiling six participating teams.

During the draft ceremony, franchises selected from a pool of 35 coaches to finalize their support staff. Each team secured a head coach, two assistants, a physio, a strength and conditioning coach, and an analyst.

Notable selections included national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan Bayzid joining Fortune. Meanwhile, ACE Blue Star picked Sohel Islam as head coach, and Acme named Rajin Saleh to the helm.

Walton appointed former spinner Abdur Razzak as head coach, while Citizens Bank chose Mizanur Rahman Babul. Seven Rings Cement selected national pace bowling coach Talha Jubaer to lead their coaching staff.

The tournament will feature 42 matches spread across three formats, including seven four-day games, 16 one-day matches, and 19 T20 fixtures. The T20 segment gets underway on December 15, followed by four-day matches in January and one-day fixtures next May.

BCB officials confirmed that franchises can bring in replacement personnel if selected coaches become unavailable due to national team commitments or other valid reasons.
