Sam Konstas has continued his phenomenal run of form by belting 149 in an attacking masterclass against Western Australia in New South Wales' One Day Cup clash.

The young prodigy walked to the crease at number three after an early wicket fell and immediately took control of the bowling attack in Perth.

Konstas reached his century from just 106 deliveries before eventually falling for 149 off 131 balls, an explosive knock featuring 15 boundaries and four maximums.

This brilliant performance follows his unbeaten 151 from 167 balls against the same opposition in the Sheffield Shield earlier in the week.

With commentators noting that his reputation is growing and the knocking on the door is getting louder, the young batsman is firmly in the spotlight.

Former NSW coach Greg Shipperd has backed Konstas to return to the top of the batting order for Australia during the Test summer.

Shipperd pointed out that after ironing out technical adjustments following his early international appearances against India, Konstas has successfully converted his 30s into massive hundreds.

As Australia evaluates its opening partnership options for upcoming series, Konstas appears to be a prime candidate to bolster the team's stability.
