England’s potent pace attack, spearheaded by a relentless Ollie Robinson, tore through Pakistan’s batting order on day two of the second Test at Lord’s, leaving the visitors reeling. Robinson delivered a sensational spell, claiming four wickets for just 11 runs as Pakistan collapsed to a paltry 110 all out in their first innings.

This exceptional performance handed England a commanding 180-run lead, significantly bolstering their position in the ongoing three-match series, which they already lead 1-0. The collapse at the Home of Cricket casts a long shadow over Pakistan's hopes of making a “statement” after their heavy defeat at Headingley.

Resuming the day with England posting 290, Robinson immediately found his rhythm, his accuracy proving unplayable for the Pakistani batsmen. He struck crucial blows, trapping Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan plumb LBW, reducing Pakistan to a perilous 91 for 5 and breaking the back of their resistance.

“Pakistan often performs best when written off,” Azam had declared prior to the Test, emphasizing the collective responsibility for his team. “It is an honour to play at Lord's, and we aim to deliver a strong performance.”

While Azan Awais top-scored with a defiant 46, and Saud Shakeel managed 16, no other Pakistani batsman reached double figures as they lasted a mere 37.2 overs. Jofra Archer provided excellent support, snaring three wickets for 26 runs, while Josh Tongue chipped in with two vital dismissals, including the stoic Awais. Notably, Imam-ul-Haq was absent hurt and unable to bat.

Robinson’s figures of 4 for 11 from 13 overs, featuring six maiden overs, marked his fifth four-wicket haul in Test cricket. His impressive career tally now stands at 95 Test wickets at a formidable average of 20.1 from 23 matches, underlining his growing stature in the English attack.

England captain Joe Root has consistently lauded Robinson's contributions, previously calling his performances “fantastic” and acknowledging his journey. Robinson himself, after the first Test victory, had spoken of his team’s “hunger to win,” a sentiment clearly visible in their dominant display at Lord’s.

With Pakistan trailing by a massive margin and facing an uphill battle, England are now poised to secure an unassailable 2-0 series lead. The performance disparity between the two nations in this series has become stark, with England's strategic approach and player selections yielding significant dividends.
