Abhishek Sharma produced a scintillating exhibition of power-hitting in Delhi, powering India to a comprehensive victory over Afghanistan as the target of 158 was chased down in just 13.4 overs.

The explosive left-hander took control of the pursuit right from the outset, dispatching the Afghanistan attack across all parts of the Arun Jaitley Stadium and ensuring the chase became a completely one-sided affair.

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan recovered to post 157, driven primarily by a fighting half-century from all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai, who counter-attacked smartly after early top-order setbacks.

Despite Omarzai's resilience, India's bowlers reined in the scoring in the final overs, continually taking wickets to keep the visitors to a manageable total on a favorable batting pitch.

India's response was devastatingly quick. Abhishek hit the ground running, matching aggressive intent with clean execution to clear the ropes with ease and dismantle Afghanistan's bowling plans.

By the time Afghanistan managed to claim a breakthrough, the run rate required was well under control, allowing the rest of the batting order to round off the victory with more than six overs to spare.

The commanding victory underscores India's formidable T20 blueprint, leaving Afghanistan with tactical adjustments to address ahead of their next tournament fixtures.
