Despite a record-breaking century from Sobhana Mostary, Bangladesh suffered a nine-wicket defeat to Australia in the second ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

The victory helped Australia take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, making the third encounter a dead-rubber ahead of Wednesday's fixture.

The big margin defeat proved particularly frustrating for Bangladesh as the visitors managed several notable records to savour during the match.

Sobhana struck 118 off 134 deliveries, an innings laced with 18 boundaries that marked the highest individual score by a female batter for Bangladesh alongside the most runs scored via boundaries.

Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty contributed an unbeaten 74, combining with Sobhana for a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket that shattered previous records for Bangladesh across any wicket against any team.

However, despite the record-galore, the rest of the batting lineup faltered as Bangladesh were restricted to 220-6 after being reduced to 8-3 by Megan Schutt early on.

Schutt tore through the top order to finish with impressive figures of 4-36 while also effecting a run-out to derail the initial innings.

Australia made the target a cake-walk courtesy of a marauding 131 not out off 97 balls from opener Georgia Voll, whose innings featured 19 fours.

Voll and fellow opener Phoebe Litchfield shared a 162-run stand before Litchfield fell for 70 to Shorna Akter, leaving Voll and Ellyse Perry to comfortably seal a 222-1 finish in 28.1 overs.
