Former Bermuda international David Hemp has returned to the Bangladesh coaching set-up as the women's team head coach on a two-year contract. Having previously worked with the men's team and High Performance programme, the 55-year-old emphasized that consistency across all skill sets is the primary objective for the squad.

Addressing the team's current standing, Hemp noted that the ICC rankings do not do the players justice and that the group is capable of much more. The immediate goal is to establish a high-performance environment centered on clear communication and maximizing practice efficiency as the side heads into a series against Australia.

Reflecting on previous qualifying tournaments and matches in Nepal, Hemp pointed out that competing for longer periods under pressure is vital. He stressed that players must maintain composure and discipline when facing top international opponents who benefit from regular franchise league exposure.

While acknowledging the current lack of a domestic franchise league for women, Hemp explained that the support staff must bridge this gap within the national setup. He added that strong international performances will eventually pave the way for players to secure global franchise opportunities.

Discussing the bowling attack ahead of the Australia tour, Hemp acknowledged the inclusion of uncapped pacers alongside experienced frontline bowler Marufa Akter. He noted that fringe options must be evaluated and developed over the next two years to build a strong core group of seam bowlers.

On the batting front, Hemp outlined a proactive philosophy where every single ball must be viewed as a scoring opportunity. He emphasized that maximizing every delivery involves effective strike rotation and aggressive running between the wickets rather than relying solely on boundaries.
