Gill hits record 223 as India chase 406 against West Indies
Shubman Gill struck the fastest double century in ODI history as India chased down 406 with eight wickets to spare against West Indies in Guwahati.

Shubman Gill produced the fastest double century in one-day international history as India completed the format’s second-highest successful chase with an eight-wicket victory against West Indies in Guwahati on Wednesday.
The world’s top-ranked ODI batter and India captain remained unbeaten on 223 off 133 deliveries, reaching the quickest ODI century of his career in 62 balls before converting it into a record 117-ball double hundred. This marked the 27-year-old’s second ODI double century, making him only the second player after opening partner Rohit Sharma to achieve the milestone more than once.
Sharma had earlier set the tone with a 72-ball century, passing 12,000 ODI runs during a blistering 255-run opening stand before falling to Jayden Seales on 101. Virat Kohli added 29 runs off 19 deliveries, and Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 31 not out as India overhauled the 406-run target with 39 balls remaining.
West Indies had earlier posted a formidable 405 for seven after John Campbell, Shai Hope, and Amir Jangoo all scored centuries. Campbell hit a 65-ball century with nine fours and five sixes, Hope brought up his 20th ODI hundred, and Jangoo hammered 114 off 77 balls in an innings featuring three centuries.
