Abbas Etches Name on Lord's Honours Board with Masterful Five-Wicket Haul
Pakistan's Mohammad Abbas claimed a superb 5-57 on day four at Lord's, earning a spot on the Honours Board. His eighth Test five-for helped dismiss England for 208, setting Pakistan a formidable 389-run target.

Veteran Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas etched his name onto the prestigious Lord's Honours Board, delivering a masterful five-wicket haul (5-57) against England early on day four of the second Test.
His exceptional spell spearheaded the Pakistani attack, helping dismiss England for 208 in their second innings. While this set Pakistan a formidable target of 389, England maintains a 1-0 series lead after winning the first Test in Leeds.
Resuming the fourth day, Abbas showcased immaculate control and movement, clinically ripping through England’s middle order. His crucial dismissals included a well-set Dan Lawrence for 54 and Ollie Robinson, caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan, securing his coveted fifer.
“To get a five-for at my favourite ground, Lord’s, has been a long-held desire,” Abbas shared, reflecting on his achievement.
Abbas’s precision bowling was ably supported by Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad, who each chipped in with two wickets to wrap up England’s innings. Despite the collective effort, England's substantial first-innings lead ensured a commanding position, having scored 290 to Pakistan's 110.
This marked Abbas’s eighth five-wicket haul in Test cricket, adding to a match where he also surpassed 900 first-class wickets. He had previously come agonizingly close to this milestone at Lord's in 2018, securing four wickets in both innings of a Player of the Match performance.
Pakistan’s red-ball head coach, Sarfaraz Ahmed, had earlier emphasized Abbas’s experience and suitability for English conditions as a vital asset. This performance validated that faith amidst challenges for the touring side.
Though Pakistan faces a monumental chase, Abbas’s inclusion on the Lord's Honours Board solidifies his legacy as a prominent fast bowler and provides a moment of individual brilliance in a challenging series.
