Nearly eight years on from his solitary Test cap in Sydney, leg-spinner Mason Crane has earned a recall to the England setup after being named in the squad for the upcoming one-day international tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Harry Brook will lead the squad as they fly to Islamabad on 15 October for the round-robin mini-tournament, which serves as preparation for next year’s 50-over World Cup.

The group stage will see the three teams play each other twice before the top two sides contest the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on 31 October.

Jos Buttler misses the trip due to a recent hamstring tear, while Jofra Archer is being rested at the start of a busy winter schedule.

The most eye-catching selection sees Crane usurp Rehan Ahmed as the back-up wrist-spinner, following Ahmed's struggles for impact during the recent 2-1 victory over Sri Lanka.

National selector Marcus North noted that Crane has performed consistently for Glamorgan across both formats during the summer, adding two first-class centuries alongside 51 wickets.

Uncapped seamer Henry Crocombe joins the pace attack in Archer's absence after impressing for Sussex, alongside 23-year-old Sonny Baker who recently claimed his maiden ODI wicket against Sri Lanka.

Baker, voted the Professional Cricketers Association's young player of the year, is looking forward to learning the art of reverse swing in Pakistan as part of his ongoing development.
