Tigers Face NRR Mountain in Tri-Series Final Equation
Bangladesh faces a tough task to reach the UAE ODI Tri-Series final after Afghanistan's massive win over Zimbabwe left Net Run Rate as the deciding factor.

Bangladesh may not have been in action in Abu Dhabi on Monday, but the Tigers had plenty at stake as Afghanistan took on Zimbabwe in the UAE ODI Tri-Series.
A Zimbabwe win would have made Bangladesh's path to the final simpler, as the Tigers would have needed only a win over Afghanistan to qualify. However, Afghanistan's crushing 158-run victory over the Chevrons has left Bangladesh with a mountain to climb.
Batting first, Afghanistan posted a commanding 294, riding on Sediqullah Atal's 102 off 110 balls and Ibrahim Zadran's 90 off 96 deliveries.
In reply, Sikandar Raza's side never looked capable of mounting a serious challenge and were bundled out for a paltry 136. Craig Ervine was sidelined due to injury, leaving the middle order exposed.
Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar immediately capitalised, tearing through the top order to reduce Zimbabwe to 43 for four.
Raza and Ryan Burl then adopted a hyper-defensive approach, intent only on reaching the 196-run mark to safeguard their NRR. Raza crawled to 48 off 80 balls, while Burl was dismissed by Rashid Khan for 31.
The massive defeat severely dented Zimbabwe's NRR, dragging it down from +1.980 to -0.590. With all three teams still able to finish with one win each, Net Run Rate will now decide who reaches the final.
For Bangladesh to snatch that spot, they must not only beat Afghanistan in the final group match but do so by a massive margin to eclipse Zimbabwe's battered NRR.
