Bangladesh seek turnaround in second WODI against Australia
Bangladesh aim to level the three-month series and fix their Powerplay woes when they face Australia in the second Women’s ODI in Brisbane.

Bangladesh will look to bounce back from their opening defeat when they face Australia in the second Women’s ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Sunday, with the hosts leading the three-match series 1-0.
The visitors were bowled out for 166 in 49.4 overs in Friday’s series opener, marking their first-ever ODI on Australian soil, before Australia chased down the target in 25.4 overs to secure a seven-wicket victory.
Megan Schutt struck twice inside the opening nine deliveries to leave Bangladesh reeling at eight for two, before sliding further to 33 for three inside eight overs.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty anchored the innings with 29 off 86 balls, while Ritu Moni played a fighting knock of 45 off 63 deliveries to top-score for the side.
Annabel Sutherland tore through the lower order with figures of four for 30, and Phoebe Litchfield later smashed 77 off 57 balls to steer the hosts home comfortably.
Seventeen-year-old debutant Habiba Akter Islam Pinky provided a bright spark by claiming two wickets, including opener Georgia Voll.
Reflecting on the areas to improve, Joty stressed the importance of caution against the new ball and avoiding early collapses in the Powerplay to gain control.
Bangladesh will need greater resilience against the formidable Australian bowling attack and more meaningful partnerships to post a competitive total and level the series.
