Bangladesh's spinners put on a masterclass, claiming all ten wickets as the West Indies crumbled in their pursuit of an imposing 297-run target. The dominant performance propelled the Tigers to a resounding 179-run victory in Dhaka on Thursday evening, securing a 2-1 series triumph.
Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain were the pick of the bowlers, snaring three wickets apiece. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Tanvir Islam each contributed two wickets, completing the spinners' clean sweep.
Akeal Hosein top-scored for the West Indies with 27 runs, a solitary effort that proved woefully insufficient against the formidable target. Despite several batters getting decent starts, none could convert them into substantial scores. The West Indies were ultimately bundled out for a mere 117 runs in just 30.1 overs.
Earlier, Bangladesh's innings was powered by a magnificent 176-run opening stand between Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar, helping them post a commanding 296 for 8. This marked Bangladesh's highest ODI total in Mirpur in seven years, setting the stage for their dominant victory.
Saif Hassan hammered a brisk 82 off 72 balls, featuring six fours and six towering sixes. Soumya Sarkar, equally aggressive, narrowly missed a century, departing for 91 runs, decorated with seven fours and four sixes.
Together, they spearheaded Bangladesh to a new record for sixes in an ODI at Mirpur, clearing the rope 11 times and eclipsing their previous best of 10 at this venue.
Despite the explosive start, Bangladesh couldn't quite breach the 300-run mark. For the West Indies, spinner Akeal Hosein was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Alick Athanaze picked up two.
