Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been sidelined from the first two four-day fixtures against New Zealand A. The aggressive batsman sustained a left side strain, forcing him out of the initial phase of the series.

Selectors have moved swiftly to name a replacement within the touring setup. Kumar Kushagra has been drafted into the India A squad to take up wicketkeeping and middle-order responsibilities in Pant's absence.

The squad adjustments come at a crucial juncture for the developmental side as they prepare to take on the New Zealand A unit in the multi-format series.
