Indian national selectors have adopted a firm stance regarding white-ball all-rounder Hardik Pandya, leaving him out of the upcoming One-Day International squad against the West Indies to avoid repeating past mistakes involving conditional selections.

While members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) team management were reportedly keen on including Pandya to provide seam-bowling depth, the selection committee drew a strict line against naming players 'subject to fitness'.

The policy decision stems from previous instances where inclusion based on conditional clearance backfired during critical tournament phases, forcing mid-series replacements and structural reshuffling in the playing XI.

Rather than rushing the 30-year-old back into international competition, administrators and selectors agreed on a structured return protocol centered on domestic and shadow tour appearances.

Pandya's immediate pathway back to the national team now runs through the upcoming India A series, where his bowling workload and match stamina will be thoroughly evaluated under competitive conditions.

Should the pace-bowling all-rounder clear those physical hurdles without setback, he is expected to be considered for India's white-ball tour of New Zealand scheduled for November.

The clear requirement signals a broader commitment from Indian cricket management to prioritize long-term physical robustness and match readiness over reputation when finalizing squad selections.
