Victoria finally ended their winless run in dramatic fashion, claiming a thrilling victory under the lights at Junction Oval in the opening round of the WNCL.

Despite a superb all-round performance from Tahlia McGrath for South Australia, the Vics managed to get home in a tense finish.

The catalyst for Victoria's success was a magnificent century by Sutherland, anchoring the batting innings and guiding her side through the pressure.

McGrath gave her absolute all for the visitors with a stellar display across both departments, yet it proved insufficient to stop the late charge.

With this hard-fought result, the Victorian squad wiped the slate clean and started their campaign on a positive note.
