Glenn Phillips carved his name into the record books with a historic performance as the Black Caps wrapped up their T20I assignment against India.

The series culminated with India taking the trophy 3-2 following a hard-fought battle across five matches.

New Zealand were left ruing two excruciatingly close defeats in the opening fixtures held in Christchurch, which ultimately shaped the final series outcome.

Despite dropping those early matches, the home side rallied strongly in the latter stages of the rubber.

Tim Seifert also found his batting touch during the fixture, anchoring the team's efforts as the Black Caps secured back-to-back victories to close out the tour.
