West Indies Adapt to Dhaka Heat Ahead of Opening Test
Despite experiencing slightly higher temperatures than usual in Dhaka, West Indies captain Roston Chase confirmed his side is fully adapted and comfortable ahead of the first Test.

West Indies have expressed comfort and satisfaction with their preparations as they gear up for the opening Test against hosts Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Despite encountering temperatures slightly higher than usual, the touring side has adapted smoothly to the local environment.
Captain Roston Chase confirmed during a pre-match press conference that his team is thoroughly prepared following an intensive training camp in Chennai and subsequent limited-overs fixtures in India. The squad arrived in Dhaka earlier on October 18 to acclimatize.
Reflecting on their preparation schedule, Chase noted that the entire touring party managed two solid training sessions and played a practice match together. The squad skipped training on Tuesday, signaling full confidence in their readiness before the battle begins on Wednesday.
'My sense is that everyone has adjusted to the conditions and feels comfortable,' Chase told reporters. 'We have put in hard work. It is a bit warmer than usual, but everyone is enjoying the environment and adapting well so far.'
While Bangladesh faced limited preparation time after returning home from a tri-nation series in the United Arab Emirates on October 21, the visitors enter the fixture riding a wave of positive momentum. Their recent red-ball assignments yielded a home series victory against Sri Lanka and a drawn series against Pakistan.
Currently languishing at the eighth spot in the ICC World Test Championship standings, the upcoming matches represent the final assignment of the current cycle for the Caribbean side. Chase emphasized the urgency of securing positive results to climb the ladder.
'If we want to move higher up the points table, this is where we have to do it,' the skipper asserted. Having won two out of their four Tests this year while suffering only a single defeat, the team is determined to finish the cycle strongly.
'We have enjoyed a great year so far, winning two matches, drawing one, and losing one out of four Tests. We are entering this series in strong form, and winning both matches to finish fifth or sixth in the standings would be a wonderful Christmas gift for the team,' Chase concluded.
