Bangladesh reached 149 for three in 50 overs after lunch on the opening day of the first Test against West Indies at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today, with opener Shadman Islam unbeaten on 66 and Tawhid Hridoy on 23.

Shadman brought up his half-century off 95 balls, striking five boundaries, as Bangladesh crossed the 100-run mark in the 32nd over. He continued to anchor the innings after captain Najmul Hossain Shanto fell for 19, leaving the hosts at 110 for three in the 36th over.

Shanto, who had resumed after lunch on 15, added only four runs before falling leg-before to Jomel Warrican. The Bangladesh skipper attempted a paddle sweep against a fuller delivery, but missed the ball and was struck on the front pad. West Indies captain Roston Chase reviewed the not-out decision, and ball-tracking confirmed the delivery would have hit the middle-leg stump.

Warrican claimed his second wicket of the innings after dismissing Mominul Haque for 28 before lunch.
