South Africa Coach Cautions Against Knee-Jerk Changes After Test Loss
South Africa coach Shukri Conrad warned his team needs to improve significantly following a 214-run defeat to Australia at Kingsmead, while advising against panic.

South Africa coach Shukri Conrad cautioned against any drastic changes after their first Test loss to Australia but warned his charges that they need to get considerably better to stay alive in the three-match series.
The Proteas suffered a 214-run defeat on Tuesday in the opening encounter at Kingsmead, halting a remarkable 15-match unbeaten Test streak.
Addressing reporters, Conrad emphasized that a single defeat should not prompt them to question everything they have done right, noting that composure is vital.
The coach highlighted batting concerns, pointing out that many dismissals stemmed from mental lapses rather than purely technical or tactical flaws.
He praised Aiden Markram's resilient knock in the second innings as an example of the single-minded determination required in Test cricket.
Conrad also hinted at upcoming team changes, including the near-certain return of pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada from a hamstring injury.
The second Test of the series is scheduled to begin on Sunday at St George's Park in Gqeberha.
