Bangladesh face a crucial encounter against Afghanistan in Sharjah on Wednesday, needing a convincing victory to keep their UAE tri-series campaign alive.

Opening batsman Tanzid Tamim admitted that recent defeats against Zimbabwe stem from a mindset issue, pointing out that their opponents simply played superior cricket.

The left-hander, who scored 46 off 38 deliveries against Zimbabwe before the innings lost momentum, believes the surface was well-suited for chasing the target.

Reflecting on the middle-order collapse, Tanzid noted that failing to build partnerships and losing wickets in quick succession created immense pressure on the team.

He emphasized his personal accountability to stay at the crease longer, stating that batting for another 20 to 25 overs would have put the side in a commanding position.

Following Saturday's defeat, Bangladesh Cricket Board president Tamim Iqbal held discussions with the squad to lift their confidence and reinforce family-like unity within the camp.

Tanzid shared that the BCB boss encouraged players to maintain identical preparation and focus intensely on every international fixture regardless of the opponent.

As the team prepares for Wednesday's decisive fixture, the opener reiterated that playing their brand of top-class cricket remains the only way forward.
