South Africa’s resounding innings victory over Australia has blown the race for the World Test Championship final wide open. While Australia continues to hold the top spot in the standings, the latest result has added immense pressure on the chasing pack.

India currently finds itself placed fifth on the points table with seven Test matches remaining in their schedule. These upcoming encounters against New Zealand and Australia will dictate whether the side can secure a coveted spot in the ultimate showdown.

To reach the crucial 60 percentage mark, India requires a minimum of 62 points from their remaining fixtures. The margin for error is razor-thin, as the team cannot afford to drop more than two matches moving forward.

Beyond their own on-field results, qualification will also heavily depend on external outcomes. India will need at least two of Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa to stumble and drop valuable points along the way.
